Welcome to Newton Primary School’s website.

Newton Primary School is located in the village of Newton above Mumbles, in one of the most picturesque locations in the country.

We are lucky to have a school to be proud of, with all pupils, parents, staff and Governors working hard to make our school what it is; a happy place where our children are safe, included and listened to.

Our pupils are incredible. They have a thirst for learning whilst maintaining strong relationships in a supportive environment.

I am incredibly proud to be the Acting Headteacher of Newton Primary School and I hope that you’re able to find all the information you require here. If we can help you with anything else, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Our Motto:

Let's Work Together to be the Best That We Can Be!

Dewch I Weithio Gyda’n Gilydd I Wneud Ein Gorau Glas!

Our Vision

At Newton, we believe that the bedrock of successful learning and development is wellbeing and positive mental health.

We believe in the concept of lifelong learning for all and the notion that learning should be a rewarding and enjoyable experience for everyone, pupil and staff alike; it should be challenging, but fun. We believe in equality of opportunity, working together to overcome any barriers to learning and equipping pupils with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to make informed choices.

We take pride in and promote the importance of our Welsh context, and seek to nurture pride in our country: its language, history and traditions, achievements and contributions to the World across the spectrum of human experience.

Our Curriculum is firmly rooted in the Four Purposes, and everything we do contributes towards enabling pupils to become:

Ambitious, Capable Learners

Enterprising, Creative Contributors

Ethical, Informed Citizens

Healthy, Confident Individuals

We have high expectations of ourselves and our pupils and we believe that everyone can achieve, through self-reflection and learning resilience, and we take pride in everyone’s achievement.

In order to achieve our vision, we promote effective links between home, school and the community. We believe in the importance of supporting and challenging each other to learn from mistakes and experiences, promoting the values of tolerance, empathy, enterprise, independence, conscientiousness, creativity, ambition, cooperation, resilience and an eagerness to learn.

We aim to nurture pupils’ self-esteem, and high levels of attainment, to enable them to make excellent progress and be confident in taking their place positively in an ever changing society within a Welsh context.

This will enable our pupils, our staff and all stakeholders to aspire to be the best that we can be, leading to the highest outcomes for all.
