Theme - Roots
This year we will examine whole-school concepts, with each class at Newton investigating the same concept through a different lens.
Our class will be exploring "Roots" via our local and national heritage with a focus on the Industrial Revloution and how it shaped the Swansea we live in today.
Additionally, we will investigate and celebrate our individual heritage; be that from Wales or the wider world. If you wish to come into school to talk about your "Roots" or heritage and what it means to you please do get in touch and we can arrange a time.
I am keen to involve parents as much as possible in the children's learning experiences.

Reading, Spelling and Handwriting
Could children please bring in their reading books each day to read in class.
Could children who are free readers please bring their books in from home.
I will do assessments in the second and third week of the term.
Pencil Cases
Please could children have;
2 black pens (Preferably Berol handwriting but biro is also OK)
2 pencils
1 ruler (30cm)
For editing, redrafting and correcting;
1 green pen (biro OK)
1 purple pen (biro OK)
Lots of children last year used the 4 colour retractable pens from BIC that work well also instead of lots of separate pens! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Colours-Original-Ballpoint-Medium-Point/dp/B007CX2HKE?th=1
I do have extras of all of these but in limited quantities.
Please get in touch with any questions or queries, I'll be checking this each weekday this week as I'm doing prep for the term. I'm sure I will have forgotten something!
